I travelled to YHA York for a return visit. Weather was kind. Dry, cool but pleasant enough for meandering.
03/02/2025 I travelled back home from York then the rest of the month was much like January. Nothing of note to report.

Monday 17th
I went to Middlewich and had a walk along the towpath of the Shropshire Union Canal, Middlewich Branch line. I walked to the Railway Bridge at Wimboldsley to see if I could get a shot of the Mayflower Steam Train heading for Crewe.

I got the train to Stoke, (long story), and got on the towpath behind the Station and strolled to Westport Lake.

I had a wander around Sandbach Park with David. One of my photos got into Flickr Explored. First one for a while.

Main reason is to visit the Welsh Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve, Big Pool Wood. Also the RSPB Point of Ayr Reserve deserves another visit. Maybe fit in a visit to RSPB Conwy 🤔

Glendale Holiday Park. Port Carlisle, Wigton, Cumbria, CA7 5DJ.
Surrounded by Nature Reserves and with the Solway Firth to the North, I feel I might be like a child in a sweet shop. I've not been here before so I've only booked four nights. Long enough to get a feel of the area with a view to a longer break in the future.
Update: 24/05/2025. Due to Public Transport and other issues I will not be going back. Roundup.

07- 08. Overnight stay at the Star Hotel, Beeston to spend a full day at Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust Attenborough Reserve.
Sunday 17th – Friday 22nd: Rail replacement buses will operate between Stafford - Stoke - Crewe. No Westport day out this week.
I was away Monday to Friday from 08 – 12 September.
Using the Clifton Villa Hotel in Southport as a base I visited WWT Martin Mere, RSPB Marshside and Formby Dunes Nature Reserves. A successful short break apart from not seeing any Red Squirrels at Formby.

Plan A:- Keswick or Ambleside towards the end of the month before the clocks go back.
The reality:- A visit to A & E on the seventh put my plans on hold for the forseeable future.
I can't make any travel plans for the rest of the year 'til I've been to the Urology clinic on the 24th. Further surgery may be required. Appointment cancelled after waiting for 3 hours.
Travel plans on hold. My appointment at the Urology Clinic has been recheduled for the 23rd.
